EEDA GOES FOR GOLD
22nd July 2008
The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is the first regional development agency (RDA) to receive the prestigious Committed2Equality (C2E) standard, achieving the accreditation body’s Gold Award.
As a result of achieving the award, Ms Fei-Ni Toole, EEDA's equality and diversity manager looks forward to encouraging those who regularly engage with the development agency to consider their current procurement and HR policies:
"We are extremely proud to have been so highly commended for equality and diversity. It is important for us to encourage a fair and inclusive environment which attracts and retains the best talents for our workforce, and which opens up opportunities for a broad range of suppliers"
To achieve the C2E Gold Award EEDA undertook a comprehensive review and self-assessment of their procurement and HR policies and practices - supported by a C2E Business & Equality Advisor - and then independently audited.
On making the award to EEDA, C2E's chief executive, Janet Lakhani, said: "We provide specialist advisor support throughout the programme to help organisations tailor and plan their equality and diversity practices. It is about helping companies and organisations sustain their competitive edge in a rapidly changing global market. Businesses must recruit, employ and retain the best people available, which is what our unique award helps to achieve"
